On May 30th, 2024, BALCONY PARIS had the pleasure of unveiling "Passages," an exhibition by Swedish artist My Maanmies. Her eight artworks, each a profound exploration of life and death, filled our space with a powerful reflection on the interplay between the inner and outer worlds.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to My Maanmies for bringing "Passages" to our gallery. It's rare to see art command a space as effortlessly as hers did. The works, a diverse mix of mediums including papier-mâché, paint, and even a striking piece in molten bronze, took over the room, drawing everyone into her vision. The way her pieces occupied our space was not just an exhibition; it felt like they belonged there, transforming our environment into a realm of introspection and profound beauty.

This exhibition was more than just a display of art; it was a collaboration that strengthened our bond with Maanmies as both an artist and a friend. Her eight stunning artworks captivated and challenged our perceptions, leaving a lasting impact that will be remembered by our team and our visitors alike. We are grateful for the opportunity to have hosted such an extraordinary event and to have shared this unforgettable journey with Maanmies and our community.

The vernissage drew a vibrant crowd, with guests sporting a mix of sleek, elegant outfits and bold, cutting-edge/avant garde fashion that nodded to My Maanmies' past collaboration with famous designer Rick Owens.

Amid the festive vibes, the exhibition offered a space for deep reflection, providing insights that deeply touched and inspired the attendees.

Though the event has concluded, we had the privilege of displaying My Maanmies' engaging papier-mâché artwork, "Dissimulation II, 2024," for several months in our shop. This piece, which guests admired for its depth and hypnotizing shapes, was a beautiful reflection of the world My Maanmies has created. While the artwork has now been removed from our walls, its impact lingered, offering anyone who laid their eyes on it, a meaningful glimpse into her mind.
